Presentation: How to Improve Patient Safety by Utilizing MODEO to Clarify Living Wills and POLST

Speaker: Dr. Ferdinando Mirachi, DO, medical Director of the Hamot Emergency Department in Erie, PA

As the Chief Medical Officer of the Institute on HealthCare Directives and Founder of MIDEO, his TRIAD research set the foundation for the development and utilization of a state of the art, evidence-based patient safety solution called MIDEO (My Informed Decision on VidEO). MIDEO has been structured to be both a Video Advance Directive and portable Physicians Medical Order that is prescriptive, clarifies existing documents and retrievable in seconds. The objectives of Dr. Mirachi’s presentation are:

Identify Patient Safety issues related to the Living Will, DNR & POLST orders
Learn how Patient to Clinician Video (MIDEO) can improve patient safety to promote clarify, confidence & comfort to patients and providers when confronted with a Living Will & POLST order.
